Lions host Marauders for Friendly

On Saturday November 7th our own Yorkshire Lions Wheelchair Rugby Team hosted Marauders at their home venue at Featherstone Sports Club.

This had been a friendly fixture that Head Coach Smith had been trying to arrange for some time, to give our developing Lions Team a run out against top class 1st Division opposition.  Marauders are a class outfit and boast several GB Players, some of whom were seen it the recent televised event at the Copper Box in London’s Olympic Park.

Whilst not all the GB Players were present on Saturday the Marauders had Paul McDerby in the Team; a formidable GB Player along with many of their first team.

The inevitable scoreline was irrelevant and as Head Coach Smith had pointed out to the Lions prior to the game, “it was important for the Lions to ignore the scoreline but rather focus on the execution off their defensive and offensive moves”.

All in all it was an exciting game, watched by many spectators, who the Lions would like to thank for attending.

Special thanks are given to Rachel Dickie who refereed the game.

Below are some action pictures and extensive video footage for SPINE Members interest.
